The ‘super-contract’ which Trafford council’s then Conservative administration signed with Amey back in 2015 was hailed as ‘ground-breaking’ at the time .It costs the town hall £12m a year.But with ever-mounting pressure on budgets and the impact of COVID-19, the authority is looking to save money where it can and is planning a six month review process with Amey.The previous failings of the firm are such that the council has a savings pot in its budget to store Amey’s fines in.The pot, known as the One Trafford Partnership Reserve, now totals just over £2.1m.Usually the council uses this cash to fund ‘one-off projects around the borough,’ but this year it took £500,000.
