What's below could totally change. We all know that by now. In fact, studios were still making tweaks to their summer movie schedules as late as last week.
But as things currently stand, at this moment — April 2, 2021 — and barring some fresh apocalyptic pandemic variant or major surge in COVID-19 cases, there are nearly 40 films scheduled to open in wide release in theaters over the next few months.
While this schedule is not as active as your typical Hollywood spring and summer lineup, the following nonetheless represents a massive ramp-up from the theatrical drought of the past year.
Chains such as AMC Theatres, Cinemark Theatres and Regal Cinemas have begun reopening theaters around the country, including in top markets such as New York.
