The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences said Thursday that Jesse Armstrong, creator and showrunner of the multiple Emmy-winning Succession, will receive its 2023 Founders Award at the awards gala next month.
With nearly two decades of experience in film and television, Armstrong is the co-creator of the Channel 4 comedy series Peep Show, Fresh Meat and Babylon.
He also has written an acclaimed episode of British anthology sci-fi series Black Mirror: The Entire History of You. Succession has been universally recognized as one of the best television series ever and a golden standard for writing.
The series finale, aired on May 28 with the show’s largest audience ever. “Since its debut, Succession has entered the cultural zeitgeist – obsessing audiences around the world with its highly original cast of characters and Machiavellian plots,” said International Academy President & CEO, Bruce L.
