Student who drove Audi over boy denies attempted murder as it's alleged he chased 14-year-old following 'altercation'

A university student who drove his car over a 14-year-old boy in the street denies attempting to murder the teenager. Ibraheem Anwar, 23, denies deliberately driving over the boy, who was seriously injured and admitted to intensive care.

He claimed he was unaware that the boy was under his Audi A4 when he drove over him. Prosecutors allege that Mr Anwar, who had two friends in his car, had chased the teenager after an 'altercation'.

Paramedics were called to Heald Place in Rusholme just after 7.40pm on July 13 last year. Mr Anwar, an accountancy and finance student, drove away from the scene but handed himself in to police the following day, Manchester Crown Court heard. Try MEN Premium now with our amazing New Year offer...
