Brent Lang Executive Editor “Lempicka,” a musical about Art Deco painter Tamara de Lempicka, will play its final Broadway performance on Sunday, May 19.
The show has struggled to draw crowds since opening on April 14. Last week, for instance, “Lempicka” had its weakest showing yet, earning $288,102 and playing at 71% capacity.
That was the lowest total for any Broadway show during that period. The production had hoped that the Tony Awards might give it a boost.
However, when nominations were announced on Tuesday, “Lempicka” failed to pick up one for best musical. It earned three nominations in total, including nods for best leading actress in a musical for Eden Espinosa and best supporting actress in a musical for Amber Iman.
