Strictly Come Dancing choreographer Jason Gilkison has announced he is now a British citizen. The Australian former professional ballroom dancer began dancing when he was just four years old at his grandparent’s dance studio in Perth, before going on to carve a career as a dancer and later a choreographer.
In 2008 he became a contributing choreographer for So You Think You Can Dance Australia, before joining the American version.
Then, in 2014, he joined BBC’s Strictly as its head of choreography. Now, decades after first arriving in London, he has revealed he’s become a citizen of his adopted country. ‘So, earlier this week exactly 40 years after Peta (Roby, his dance partner) and I first arrived in London as a couple of 17 year olds ready to take on the dance world, I’ve become a British citizen.
