Strictly Come Dancing's Wynne Evans has revealed that he feels like the 'competition winner' already, thanks to the show aiding his impressive seven-stone weight loss journey. The 52 year old contestant, who is currently dancing with professional Katya Jones, tipped the scales at over 23 stone in 2022 following a series of personal tragedies including the loss of both his parents and the end of his 16-year marriage, which led to clinical depression.
However, the opera singer, famed for his role in the Go Compare insurance adverts, turned his life around two years ago in September with a complete diet overhaul and rigorous exercise regime.
Wynne emphasised that joining Strictly Come Dancing this year was the cherry on top. Speaking to Metro, the Welsh star shared that despite being on his feet all day on set, he's been loving every moment. "It's like a gift," he said. "Anybody who loses weight gets to that stage where they plateau, and I think it's like the next kick on for me." Wynne spoke candidly about struggling with his weight since childhood in an interview with the Mirror last year.
He recalled a time when he had to be mindful of what chair he sat on for fear of breaking it, describing the experience as 'embarrassing'.
