Wynne Evans has taken a break from his BBC Wales radio show following his apology for making an "inappropriate and unacceptable" comment during the Strictly Come Dancing live tour launch. The well-known opera singer is "taking some time off from his show" the station confirmed.Whilst he recovers, comedian Robin Windsor, who frequently covers for Evans, stepped in to present Monday's morning show after Evans' Glasgow performance the previous night. The incident leading to Evans' absence follows an ankle injury which saw him miss the Saturday dance performance in Glasgow, having just performed there on Sunday.
The Mail on Sunday revealed that Evans was caught on video uttering the remark to a woman at the event that commenced on January 16, resulting in a caution from the tour producers, reports Wales Online.Evans expressed regret, stating: "My language was inappropriate and unacceptable for which I sincerely apologise." Strictly live tour and BBC Studios representatives asserted their position: "We were not previously aware of the remark and did not receive any complaints.
We have made it very clear to Wynne that we do not tolerate such behaviour on the tour."On social media, Evans updated his followers on his condition, showing images of his injured ankle on Instagram and in a video shared on Saturday evening saying: "Ankle's getting a bit better, it was great to be able to sing in Glasgow tonight, even if I couldn't dance, hopefully back tomorrow."But watch this space, I'll let you know in the morning.
See how the swelling goes down, and all that kind of stuff, thanks for all the lovely messages, amazing."He returned to dazzle spectators with his dance moves in both the matinee and evening show in Glasgow on Sunday.
