Strictly Come Dancing star Pete Wicks was left 'in tears' during rehearsals this week following a tragic family death. The former TOWIE star and co-host of the Staying Relevant podcast, 36, revealed that he is dedicating this weekend's performance to his beloved nan, who was his 'best mate'.
Pete and his dance partner, Jowita Przystal, appeared on It Takes Two with host Janette Manrara where they discussed their upcoming couple's choice performance for Saturday night (9 November).
Dancing to The Best by Nicotine Dolls, Pete shared the meaning behind the song and said: "This is going to be a tough one for me, based on the fact that, I mean, I've not heard the song all the way through up until this week, since my name's funeral. "My nan was my best mate, and we played this at a funeral because it was her favourite song, and if there's one person I wish was here and was able to watch me, it would be her.
And she's not been, so this is kind of my way of having her on this mad adventure with me." Reflecting on rehearsals, he continued: "It's been a tough week - I've spent more time crying than I have dancing." Janette replied with: "But you know what, dancing is one of the best ways to kind of heal and feel things, that probably were hidden and needed to be felt once again." During the chat, Pete also reflected on last weekend's icon performance, which saw him land at the bottom of the leaderboard with Jowita following their salsa to Another One Bites the Dust by Queen.
