Fans of Strictly Come Dancing have been left disappointed after former Family Fortunes presenter Les Dennis became the first star to be voted off this year's show. The first dance-off of the latest series took place on Sunday, 1 October, with Les and his partner Nancy Xu, as well as Nikita Kanada and her pro partner Gorka Marquez.
Les and Nancy lost out as judges Motsi Mabuse, Craig Revel-Horwood and Anton Du Beke voted to save Nikita and Gorka. Craig Revel Horwood said: "The couple I would like to save and who I think danced the best on the night and was the most improved is Nikita and Gorka." Following that, Motsi Mabuse agreed as she added: "Both couples danced better in the dance off.
One couple was extremely better in the dance off. I will save Nikita and Gorka." The third judge to make their vote was Anton Du Beke, as she explained: "I thought it was a competition of two couples on performance alone and who could really nail their performance.
I think the couple who did the best job were Nikita and Gorka." After it was announced that Les would be leaving, head judge Shirley Ballas was asked by show host Tess Daly who she would have chosen to save - as she confirmed that she also would have saved Nikita and Gorka and sent Les and Nancy home.
