Strictly Come Dancing and soap fans were cheering as former Corrie star Katie McGlynn was unveiled as the seventh contestant joining this year’s Strictly live on BBC Breakfast - just ahead of the show’s own host Dan Walker being named as the eighth!

And the 28-year-old actress, who had Corrie fans crying buckets when as the newlywed Sinead Tinker she died tragically from cancer last year, was delighted that the news was finally out there.

Katie said: 'It's been so hard keeping it a secret, but I can finally say that I'm getting ready to shake my shimmy and become part of the Strictly family! 'I'm really not a dancer, but I'm so excited to learn a new skill on this crazy journey and cannot wait to slip into some sequins along the way.’ Video.
