Strictly Come Dancing's Josh Widdicombe is stirring up some laughs with his cheeky jabs at Gregg Wallace. The comedian, who is busy brainstorming for his new tour, has found comedic gold in poking fun at Gregg's presenting skills on BBC's Inside the Factory.
With Gregg recently making headlines, Josh, 41, reckons the timing couldn't be better, as it seems audiences are "onside", given the "hate" directed at the chef.
Chatting with The Times, he quipped: "Because it works. It was quite a quaint and silly routine but people have been getting onside even more because they hate Gregg Wallace so much." He added, "I am not making big, startling points, it's just really a routine about a man who is not very good at hosting Inside the Factory." In a candid talk with Beyond The Joke back in September, Josh - who will star in the Christmas special of Strictly - opened up about how he picks his stand-up topics and why Gregg became a target. "For me it's always where I just say something and I think that would be fun for stand-up, I'll note that in my phone and work that up at a gig," he explained. "Like I thought about talking about giving up drinking but realised that was never going to be as funny as talking about Inside The Factory with Gregg Wallace," reports the Liverpool Echo.
Gregg stepped down from Inside the Factory in March last year, citing his autistic son Sid's needs as a reason, saying it was a "good idea to stop it".
