Strictly Come Dancing launch show postponed after Queen's death

This year’s Strictly Come Dancing launch show has officially been postponed following The Queen’s death. The highly anticipated launch show for the BBC One show's 20th series was due to take place on Saturday 17 September and would have been the first time this year’s dancing couples were revealed to the public.

However, in the wake of The Queen’s death on Thursday 8 September, the decision has been made to pull the show from its scheduled time-slot as the country continues to mourn its longest-serving monarch.

The launch show will now air on Friday September 23 and will be followed by the first live show on Saturday September 24, the BBC has said.

The latest postponement is just one of several to hit the BBC since the Queen’s death, as they, along with several other channels including ITV changed their schedules to accommodate breaking news coverage of the sad occasion and a number of tribute programmes that celebrated the long and historic reign of the late sovereign.
