Strictly Come Dancing has faced a bit of a hiccup following the exciting end to the 2024 season. The recent series, which marked the 22nd season of the popular BBC dance show, has seen ratings struggle in comparison to previous years.
It appears the grand finale was no exception, falling behind past seasons in terms of viewership. The 2024 Strictly season kicked off on a low note back in September, with the launch episode attracting just 7.1 million viewers - a drop from the 7.8 million who tuned in for the 2023 launch.
While the numbers did pick up for the finale, won by comedian Chris McCausland and his dance partner Dianne Buswell, they were still down.
Reports suggest that the final episode of the season drew in a peak viewership of 9.3 million, but averaged at 8.6 million. In contrast, last year's season, won by Coronation Street star Ellie Leach and dancer Vito Coppola, boasted a peak of 9.7 million and an average of 8.8 million.
