Strictly bosses 'introduce new measures' after Giovanni Pernice scandal
ok.co.ukStrictly Come Dancing returns later this year with a brand new line-up of celebrities, and apparently new rules too.The BBC are said to have launched a new duty of care package in the wake of the bullying allegations made against pro-dancer Giovanni Pernice.
As first reported by The Sun, the BBC will include new measures to protect the 2024 celebrity contestants and professional dancers including on-call counsellors, cameras to film training, post-show therapy and even chaperones if requested by the stars.The BBC have also appointed a duty of care executive for the next 12 months.
And it’s not just Strictly Come Dancing, the BBC will hold training, masterclasses and webinars for all their reality shows.
A source told The Sun: “Cameras will be installed pretty much everywhere and a counsellor will be on call 24/7.” Director of unscripted shows, Kate Phillips added: “The BBC takes its duty of care incredibly seriously and are always looking at ways to ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of contributors.” The professional dancer line-up for the next Strictly series was confirmed on Monday 10 June and Giovanni won’t return to the show this year.
