Trafford’s leading councillors have given the go-ahead for a planning application to be submitted for a low-rise development of 53 ‘quality’ family homes as part of the Stretford town centre redevelopment.
The Lacy Street site is part of the masterplan for the Stretford Mall site following the joint-venture partnership between the council and property firm Bruntwood five years ago.
Royal Mail’s sorting office, which occupied the site, was soon demolished to create the development area. Meanwhile, the council has secured so-far undisclosed funding for the site from the Future High Street Fund and two rounds of Brownfield funding.
In a report to the council’s executive, Trafford executive member for economy and regeneration Coun Liz Patel said work to prepare the site has been completed.
