A couple who faced backlash from both their families and strangers say their 22-year difference "doesn't matter" when it comes to love and are planning to get married and start a family.

Danielle Kent, 32, and Gareth Palmer, 54, told how they have faced repeated snide comments from strangers, including being told that Danielle is "doing her bit for the community" and that Gareth "must have a big d***".

The couple, who met while working at a care home in 2022, said that while they simply "laugh off" the obscene comments, they have been left feeling hurt and belittled.
