A lorry driver stuck in Dover is hoping to return home in time to celebrate Christmas with his nine-month-old granddaughter.
Peter Graham, 50 and from Newcastle, drove 10 hours from Scotland to load his container of lamb at the Port of Dover at 5am this morning and now awaits its return from France full of yoghurt for Brits.
Lorry driver of 32 years Mr Graham said he is currently surviving on ready-made microwave meals and protein shakes but hopes he can be back home in Newcastle in time for the big holiday.
He is one among the estimated 1,500 lorry drivers being backed up in Kent while the Port of Dover and Eurotunnel remain closed to traffic leaving the country.
