Stormzy pulled on a 2005-06 Newcastle United shirt during his performance at the city's arena this week it sent ripples across social media.
Apparently the shirt was stuffed inside a 'Geordie starter pack' curated for Stormzy by promoter Mike Hesketh. The London-based rapper, whose real name is Michael, put aside his affection for Manchester United to pull on a replica Adidas shirt as worn by Alan Shearer in his final season as a player.
In doing so Stormzy joined an eclectic club of musicians who've performed the same ritual over the years.
