Scots will have to batten down the hatches this week as Storm Henk is to hit the UK.The latest storm named by forecasters is set to bring gales and heavy rain to parts of the UK on Tuesday, leading to potential disruption.

While the crux of the storm is to heavily impact Wales and England, Scotland is set to be hit by gusts, showers and even snow. The Met Office has warned snow will hit parts of Scotland on Tuesday, after weather maps predicted a snow front that is expected to move northeast as the day goes on.

The forecaster predicts these flurries will be impact the northern Isles the most, particularly Shetland by the afternoon.Speaking on Tuesday's forecast, Met Office meteorologist Jonathan Vautrey said: "For the far northeast, some very strong winds for Shetland and Orkney as well with that second front bringing some persistent rainfall."Severe amber weather warnings are in place across England and Wales until this evening, predicting 80mph gusts in the most affected areas.

While Storm Henk is expected to migrate eastwards over Europe by Wednesday, an area of low pressure is set to linger over Scotland.Mr Vautrey added: "Again some very persistent rainfall for Orkney, Shetland, still with those strong gales around at times as well."Looking further into the week, the Met Office is predicting a mainly unsettled forecast thanks to a bout of westerly Atlantic conditions.
