Tributes have been paid to a teenager died after falling into a fast-flowing river while playing with friends. Nicola Williams, 15, drowned after getting into trouble in the Rhymney River in the Llanrumney area of Cardiff on Friday.
A friend had jumped into the river to try to save her, but Nicola was swept by the strong current as Storm Ellen's strong winds battered the UK.
Emergency crews raced to the river in a bed to rescue Nicola, and although they found her within an hour, she could not be saved.
The headteacher of the school where Nicola was a pupil has described her as a "polite, respectful and hardworking" following her death, reports Wales Online.
