Stirling Albion play their first home game of 2022 on January 8 when they welcome cinch League Two leaders Kelty Hearts to Forthbank. The Binos go into the match boosted by a 2-1 success at Stenhousemuir when Nathan Flanagan scored the winner to end a run of seven straight league defeats. They will also be lifted by the return of midfielder Jack Leitch and defender Adam Cummins after suspension while experienced full-back Martin McNiff could also make the squad after two months out with a knee injury. The match has a 1pm kick-off due to recent floodlight problems at the stadium and capacity is limited to 500 because of the Scottish Government’s Covid restrictions.Kelty were 3-1 winners at Forthbank back in August but the Binos earned a 1-1 draw in the return match at New Central Park at the end of October thanks to a Daniel Scally goal.Kevin Thomson’s side are seven points clear of Forfar at the top of the table with two games in hand despite suffering their first defeat of the season at Annan on Boxing Day, when they lost 5-1.Manager Darren Young is close to adding to his squad but midfielder Rabin Omar has left the club – a decision that had been made before the ex-East Fife boss replaced Kevin Rutkiewicz.Young said: “It was good to get the win on Sunday and it was great to see the reaction of the players to going a goal behind because I don’t think there was much in the game in the first half and they probably scored with their only shot on target in the first half.Click here for more news and sport from the Stirling area.“We got into the final third often enough but didn’t manage to capitalise but it came good in the second half.
