Police investigating the suspected murder of a teenage girl have made a fresh plea for information on the 20th anniversary of her disappearance.
They fear Sarah Benford, 14, may have been killed just days after she vanished from a children’s home in April 2000. Several suspects have been arrested over the years since but all were released.
Cold case team DS Julie Gallagher said: “Twenty years on, this must be playing on some people’s minds. "If there’s someone who didn’t commit murder but was there and saw something, it’s now time to tell. “We want to find Sarah and take her home to her family.” Sarah, who had a history of running away, absconded from Welford House children’s home in Northampton on April 4, 2000.
