A dad was stunned to discover a set of Pokemon cards he was given more than 20 years ago is now worth a whopping £35,000. Nigel Brookes, now 34, got the cards as a present from his mum in 1999 after he defended his then seven-year-old brother Jeremy from kids who were trying to con him out of his best cards.
His proud mum bought Nigel the collector's edition pack to reward him - even though the grumpy teen didn't even like Pokemon.
Deciding the £300 pack of cards was a 'waste' of a birthday present, 13 year old Nigel set them aside hoping they would be worth something one day.
But after his own daughter offered to buy them off him for £6, the business owner from Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham, decided to get the cards valued - and was shocked
