Olympian Jo Muir has hit out at the move to drop equestrian from the modern pentathlon.The sport’s governing body, the Union Internationale de Pentathlon Moderne (UIPM), has agreed to remove equestrian after the 2024 Olympics in Paris.But the decision by the UIPM’s executive board has been blasted by athletes who claim they were not consulted on the move.Muir says it has come as a “total shock” and the first she knew was when friends sent her a news article about the potential replacement of horse riding with cycling.And on Thursday last week UIPM officials confirmed equestrian was being ditched.Muir, from Haugh of Urr, said: “It’s really disappointing that they hadn’t spoken to any athletes, any coaches or any national federations before
