Stewartry Gymnastics Club members win more than 20 medals at Cumbernauld Floor and Vault competition

Seventeen club members took part in the Cumbernauld Floor and Vault competition on November 6, bringing home a whopping 22 medals and six ribbons between them.The gymnasts had a fantastic day and the hosts really made sure the competition was fun and relaxed, as for some of the youngsters it was their first time competing.Meadow McLachlan won gold for her floor routine and another gold for her overall score in the seven years beginner category.In the eight years beginners, Eilidh Henderson took the gold for vault, finishing fourth overall, and Lucy Donnelly took bronze for floor, finishing fifth overall.In the 10 years beginners, Maisy Wilde got a medal of each colour – taking gold for floor, bronze for vault and silver for her overall score.

Teammate Elsa Penny also picked up a sixth place ribbon for her overall score.Skye Hiddleston in the 13 years beginner category was awarded a sixth place ribbon for her overall score and teammate Ruby Hope also has a brilliant day, competing a new skill on vault.The intermediate categories saw continued success.Mia Kerr took gold for floor and gold overall in the 10 years category, with teammate Hannah Brough taking bronze for floor and bronze overall.In the 11 years section, Isla Smith was first on vault, second on floor and first overall, with teammate Libby Earl earning first on floor and second overall.The 12+ team also had a fantastic day with Reece Shaw taking first on vault and first overall, Anna Dunlop finished third on vault and fourth overall and Cate Bannerman took second on vault, third on floor to finish second overall.
