A charity that delivers shopping to older people has seen demand more than double during the coronavirus lockdown.The Stewartry branch of The Food Train has had to extend delivery hours to cope with extra customers while new volunteers have been brought on board to cope with the loss of helpers who are having to stay at home.Development officer Jif Hyde said: “It’s been an extraordinary few weeks, quite overwhelming initially, and we’re so grateful to everyone who’s offered to help.“Normally there are two vans that go out three days and last week they were going out four days and they were much longer days.
