Stewarton store crowned Best Independent Bookshop in Scotland

Stewarton's bookshop has been crowned Independent Bookshop of the Year for Scotland and is now in the running for the UK title, which will be announced on May 13.

The Book Nook owner Sarah Frame is feeling "thrilled" to have won the prestigious award this year, after being a regional and country finalist for the past two years.

Sarah shared with Ayrshire Live: "I am absolutely thrilled to have won The Independent Bookshop of the Year Award for Scotland!"My main aim has always been for The Book Nook to be a valued part of the community, and to be a place where everyone feels welcome and relaxed. "I love sharing my passion for books and hope that everyone can find something of interest with all the free events, clubs and activities on offer for adults and children. "This award recognises all the hard work that myself and my team put in and hopefully will help show what a great wee town Stewarton is.

I am so appreciative of all the support from my team, customers, authors, suppliers and friends of The Book Nook which has helped achieve this Award."The Book Nook is also currently shortlisted for Bookshop of the Year in the Scottish Independent Retail Awards, with winners being announced on April 10.Sarah continued: "I have been amazed at the recognition The Book Nook has received since opening!"The title of The ShopAppy Favourite Family Business UK 2022 was won by The Book Nook, beating 4000 other UK businesses to the title."I was also a finalist in the Ayrshire Business Awards 2023 category of Community Wealth Building Award.
