Steven George Gerrard MBE (born 30 May 1980) is an English professional football manager and former player who manages Scottish Premiership club Rangers.
He spent the majority of his playing career as a central midfielder for Liverpool, with most of that time spent as club captain, as well as captaining the England national team. Widely regarded as one of the greatest midfielders of all time,
Gerrard was awarded the UEFA Club Footballer of the Year award in 2005, and the Ballon d'Or Bronze Award. In 2009, Zinedine Zidane and Pelé said that they considered Gerrard to be the best footballer in the world.
Steven Gerrard admits his side got things "badly wrong" as they crashed out of the Champions League at the hands of Malmo. The Premiership champions had lost the first leg in Sweden, but were 1-0 up at Ibrox through Alfredo Morelos when Bonke Innocent saw red on the stroke of half-time.
At that stage it looked as though they were cruising through to the Champions League play-off round but an Antonio Colak double stunned Ibrox as the hosts were booed off.
Gerrard told Premier Sports: "It's what you do with that possession, even when we had them where we wanted them we were going round and round rather than trying to pin back their defenders and try to play into our frontmen more, be more insightful with our passing."We did really well.
