Stephen Robinson believes focusing on the here and now is the best way for St Mirren to keep breaking records. The Buddies have enjoyed one of their best ever starts to a top-flight season, having won five of their opening eight Premiership matches.

That includes a 2-0 victory which halted Celtic’s incredible unbeaten streak, with the Saints hoping to take down their second Old Firm giant today when they face Rangers at Ibrox.

St Mirren haven’t won in Govan in more than 30 years, when the Paisley side escaped with a 1-0 victory on November 23, 1991.

Current boss Robinson insists there’s nothing to gain from looking at historic stats, instead preferring to focus on what his side can do this afternoon to finally put their dismal record in the south of Glasgow to bed.
