Elderly individuals with long-term health conditions, disabilities, or additional care needs are being encouraged to reach out to national charity Independent Age for assistance in claiming Attendance Allowance.

The charity can help more people over State Pension age claim either £72.65 or £108.55 each week, which equates to either £290.60 or £434.20 every four weeks when paid.

Independent Age offers free, confidential and impartial support online and via phone on 0800 319 6789. Recent data from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) reveals that over 1.6 million older people are currently receiving extra financial aid through Attendance Allowance.

The tax-free benefit is not means-tested, meaning eligibility isn't determined by income or savings. The amount received depends on the level of support required.
