Stephen Robinson is a major contender for the vacant Northern Ireland job. The highly-rated St Mirren manager is very much in the thoughts of the Irish Football Association as they look to appoint a successor to Ian Baraclough who left his position earlier this week.
The IFA board has already met to discuss replacements and Robinson has strong backing at that level, Record Sport understands.
The former Motherwell boss is also no stranger to the Northern Ireland set-up as he previously bossed their under-age groups and was also involved in coaching under Michael O’Neill at Euro 2016.The 47-year-old was also previously interviewed for the job before Baraclough but at that time Motherwell would have been due significant compensation.
Robinson was headhunted by St Mirren from Morecambe last season. He has revamped his squad and taken the Buddies on a level.
