Spain may be open for international travellers as a holiday destination by the end of spring, the tourism minister has said.
Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez had said he did not expect to be able to welcome international tourists until the end of the summer But tourism minister Reyes Maroto has now said Spain hopes it will be possible at the end of spring. "Our priority in 2021 is to reactivate tourism and resume safe mobility on a global scale as soon as possible," she said. "We hope that at the end of spring and especially during the summer, international travel will resume and travellers will choose Spain as their destination." The news will come as a huge boost to lockdown-weary Brits yearning for a summer holiday in the sun this year.
