Sony is set to shut its London studio as part of cutting around 900 jobs in its PlayStation sector. The company's boss, Jim Ryan, explained that the "extremely hard decision" was because the "industry has changed immensely".
He said they needed to get ready for the future and prepare the business for what's next. These job cuts make up about 8% of PlayStation's total workforce around the world.
It follows other tech and gaming companies cutting jobs due to the unsure global economy. In an email to staff, Mr Ryan confirmed the London Studio would close entirely.
There would be job cuts also at the Liverpool Firesprite Studio and "reductions in various functions across Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) in the UK". Try MEN Premium now for FREE...
