Sony’s RCA Records Greater China Signs Five-Album Deal With Hip Hop Collective Iris Chengdu

Naman Ramachandran Sony Music Entertainment label RCA Records Greater China has struck a partnership with Iris Chengdu, the independent label and music collective founded by Chengdu-based producer Andre Grant (aka Harakiri).

The partnership will launch five albums over the next 12 months, showcasing Iris Chengdu’s roster of artists including Vinida Weng, Haysen Cheng, Miles, Swag Kelly, and Harakiri himself.

Weng, a female rapper known for pioneering new styles in Chinese hip-hop, has already released her album worldwide and performed in her hometown of Fuzhou.

Harakiri has established himself as a pioneer in Chinese hip-hop, having contributed to China’s first Afrobeat track and created hits for American rapper Jay Park and Chinese hip-hop group Higher Brothers.
