Revered former Hibs and Dunfermline star Sol Bamba has been remembered after his untimely passing at the age of 39.He had been working in Turkey with Adanaspor and tragically passed away over the weekend in hospital after taking unwell.
Bamba –born in France but a standout for the Ivory Coast on 44 occasions – spent five years in Scotland with Dunfermline before Hibs came calling.
The former PSG graduate was regarded as one of life's good guys and his unmatched personality came to the fore during his battle with Non-Hodgkin lymphoma in 2021.Bamba would turn out for the likes of Middlesbrough and Cardiff and carved a reputation as a reliable defender who built instant rapports with the clubs he starred for.
A statement from Adansport read: "Our Technical Director Souleymane Bamba, who fell ill before the Manisa Football Club match played yesterday, was taken to Manisa Celal Bayar University Hospital and unfortunately lost his battle for life there.
