The New York Times and Serial Productions have announced a new three-part audio mini-series titled We Were Three. Described in a press release as “an intimate look at a family in the aftermath of the pandemic,” it’s hosted by This American Life producer Nancy Updike and scored by the inimitable Sophie Allison (aka Soccer Mommy).
All three episodes arrive tomorrow (Thursday, October 13) on all major podcast platforms. “Nancy Updike is a titan of audio storytelling and we are thrilled to work with her on her first podcast series,” says Julie Snyder, executive editor of Serial Productions, in the release. “Nancy has a winning ability to explore idiosyncratic stories with sensitivity and humor, while also raising questions about the universal themes that affect us all — family, history and grief.
We Were Three is an incredible, one-of-a-kind show.” Read Next: Soccer Mommy, Mac DeMarco, Wet Leg, and more enlisted for new abortion rights benefit compilation Allison released her Oneohtrix Point Never-produced third studio album, Sometimes, Forever, in June, and discussed the process behind it on the 52nd episode of The FADER Interview.
