Coronation Street is set to welcome a new face, as legendary soap star Carol Royle joins the cast. She will be playing Anthea Deering, mother of Joel Deering (Calum Lil).
Carol Royle is no stranger to the small screen, having appeared in popular shows such as Casualty, Doctors and The Bill. She also played Lady Patricia Brewster in Heartbeat and Jenny Russell in the BBC show Life Without George.
Anthea arrives in Weatherfield to meet her son's girlfriend, Dee-Dee (Channique Sterling-Brown). However, their meeting at the bistro takes an unexpected turn when Dee-Dee storms out after Anthea makes some unwelcome comments about her family, reports OK!
