The best-selling author of the books Ruthless Women and The Thunder Girls had some of her jewels and five Chanel handbags stolen.

Melanie, who recently moved into a new home in north London, has been forced to upgrade her security and move remaining valuables to a safe deposit box.

Police have issued a warrant for the arrest of the alleged thief but have yet to make an arrest reports the Sun. Among the pieces of jewellery stolen were an 18 carat Columbian emerald ring and a pair of 1980s Cartier gold and diamond earrings which she wore in the ad
