The SNP has come out as the biggest party at the Scottish council elections. Nicola Sturgeon's party managed to get 450 councillors elected to council chambers across Scotland.
It is a gain of 23 seats on the 2017 result. The biggest result of the day for the Nationalists was in Glasgow where they just managed to cling onto being the largest party in Scotland's biggest city.
The results for the city came down to the wire, with the Maryhill ward being the decider.Both the SNP and Scottish Labour had an equal number of candidates as the final ward was announced.The First Minister hailed a "seismic" result for the SNP in Glasgow.
In another positive for the SNP they were also able to take Dundee City Council from no overall majority to an SNP majority by getting 15 of the 29 seats.
