Sex pest MP Patrick Grady has given up his membership of the SNP while police investigate claims of sexual harassment against him.The former party whip at Westminster is reportedly stepping away from the SNP after coming under the scrutiny of a police investigation.The Metropolitan Police are investigating the incident at a London pub where the SNP politician was said to have made “unwanted sexual advances” to a teenage party employee.Glasgow North MP will sit as an independent at Westminster while police investigate the allegation of sexual harassment.The sexual misconduct allegation against Grady was upheld by ­Westminster authorities and he received a two day suspension from the Commons.The MP was also suspended for a two-day suspension from the SNP group but Westminster leader Ian Blackford was then heard urging colleagues to give their “absolute” support for Grady in a leaked recording.The police complaint has been made not by Grady’s victim but by another worker at the Palace of Westminster and detectives are preparing to speak to the young man at the centre of the case.A spokesperson for the Met said: “On Wednesday, June 22, police received an allegation of sexual assault that is said to have taken place in October 2016 at a commercial premises in Folgate Street, E1.“The report was submitted online by a third party.“Officers will now be making inquiries, including contacting the alleged victim, in order to assess what further action is required.”An SNP official said: “Patrick Grady is stepping away from his party membership while the police inquiry continues.”The move pules further pressure on Ian Blackford who has faced demands to quit as Westminster leader over his handling of the case which has already caused
