Shane Gillis and James Austin Johnson went mono-a-mono as Donald Trump on “Saturday Night Live” this weekend, mocking the former president’s new sneaker line in a parody movie trailer called “White Men Can Trump.”In the skit — which aired amid Gillis’ sheepish return to Studio 8H after getting hired, then immediately fired from the sketch show in 2019 — the 36-year-old guest host plays an average guy named Gordon Dwyer who “can’t catch a break” in anything whether it be in love or basketball.

However, things seem to change when Gillis is gifted a pair of the 45th president’s branded sneakers. While the shoes fail to enhance Gillis’ basketball ability even a smidge, the actor — now physically resembling the ex-president complete with his comb-over hair — claims “I didn’t miss, it went in,” which his friends agree due to his “winning state of mind.”In the parody film, Gillis explains that while the sneakers really don’t enhance his abilities at all, they “give me the power to say I’m good at basketball and then double-down on that until people actually start to believe it.”As the trailer progresses, Gillis eventually meets Johnson, 34, who proclaims that “the magic has been inside of you all along” to which the controversial “SNL” host responds, “Wrong.

It’s the shoes.” The end of the trailer also takes a jab at President Joe Biden with cast member Mikey Day wearing velcroed shoes called “Bidens.” “Oh, you got new shoes too,” Devon Walker says. “Yeah, they’re called Bidens,” Day, 45, responds wearing a blue and white tracksuit and a pair of aviators, paying homage to the current president’s favorite pair of sunglasses.
