Small schools across the region will be able to get funding to allow their teachers and leaders to access development programmes for free.
Last year, the Government announced that the National Professional Qualifications would be free for all state schools in England, meaning thousands of teachers could access crucial training and development.
So far, around 30,000 teachers have enrolled on one of the new programmes. Now, brand-new targeted support will give small schools with less than 600 pupils more opportunities to put even more of their teachers on these programmes.
From September, small schools will receive a grant payment of £200 per teacher if they enrol their teachers on an NPQ, in addition to the free programme.
