Imagine a beautiful herb garden with over 600 varieties of herbs and over 2000 juniper bushes – this is the starting point for Eidyn Gin, a partnership between Aldi and The Old Curiosity Distillery. This small batch gin is delighting connoisseurs, who can choose from the award winning Eidyn Premium Scottish Botanical Gin, a classic London Dry, or their new slightly sweeter, fruitier, Eidyn Premium Cherry Blossom Gin.The original Eidyn Premium Scottish Botanical Gin was awarded one star in the Great Taste Awards and bronze medals in both the World Gin Awards and the International Wine and Spirit Competition, further strengthening Aldi’s position as a leading gin supplier, offering unique Scottish tipples, lovingly blended and distilled. The botanicals for both gins are grown, picked and dried by hand from an idyllic 7.5 acre site at the foot of the Pentland Hills. The herbs are then dried and distilled on site, then they only travel a mile down the road to the warehouse, where it is bottled and labelled.Herbs and botanicals used include base juniper spirit, coriander seeds, angelica roots, winter savoury and lemon balm. But the new Eidyn Premium Cherry Blossom Pink Gin gets is beautiful pink hue from mallow and cherry blossom petals and black hollyhocks, all grown in the garden.Sara Hickson, head harvester, says: “As you go about the garden there’s an abundance of fantastic flavours and aromas.

Lemon balm, for example, gives a beautiful citrussy note which is refreshing and calming and winter savoury gives a peppery, citrussy smell, a cross between an oregano and a thyme.“We feel so fortunate to be working with Aldi.
