Sky has initiated a further crackdown on the use of illegal streaming devices after a man who sold them to UK households has been sent to prison, as reported via The Mirror.
Gary McNally from Acocks Green, Birmingham, was sentenced to a two-year and nine-month jail sentence for selling illicit devices that allowed households to stream Sky Entertainment, Sky Sports and Sky Movie channels for much cheaper prices than the network itself.
It's thought that thousands had handed cash to McNally in exchange for the illegal devices before his operation was shut down by the West Midlands Police.
Now, those customers will be staring at blank screens with McNally's devices rendered useless following Sky's crackdown. According to Sky, the company became aware of McNally in June 2020.
