Six people have been rushed to hospital after a coach and truck collided on a busy Ayrshire road this evening. The Stagecoach bus crashed into a building following the serious rush-hour crash in Stewarton earlier this evening.Six people, including the coach driver, were rushed to hospital in the wake of the smash.Bus bosses say that everyone taken to hospital sustained 'minor injuries'.Stagecoach have confirmed this evening that they've launched a full investigation into the crash.Police were called to the scene just before 4.30pm and the road was closed for around two hours to allow emergency crews to work at the scene.A spokesperson from Stagecoach West Scotland said: “We confirm that there was a road traffic incident at Stewarton cross this afternoon (October 5) in which a truck was in collision with our service 9 bus."Police Scotland are currently handling the incident and we are working with them."Five passengers on board were taken to hospital along with our driver who all sustained minor injuries."Our thoughts are with our injured passengers and our driver and we wish them all a speedy recovery."We do not have any other details at this time, however, a full investigation will be undertaken into this incident.” A Police Scotland spokesperson added: “We were called around 4.25pm on Wednesday, October 5, to a report of a two vehicle crash on Main Street, Stewarton. “Emergency services attended and the road was closed.

It re-opened around 6.30pm.” An eyewitness told Ayrshire Live earlier this evening that bus passengers were spotted being stretchered away from the scene into an ambulance.
