Six weather warnings have been issued across large parts of the UK overnight. The Met Office has put in place a yellow warning for ice across London, parts of the Midlands, southern England and the southwest region, including Bath.
It came into force at 5pm and will remain in place until 10am tomorrow. Several other warnings for snow and ice are in force across the UK, with forecasters predicting that vehicles could be stranded, power cuts may occur and rural areas could be cut off. Along the east coast of England, a similar warning lasts from 6pm today until 12pm tomorrow. A yellow warning for snow and ice has been issued for the north of Scotland, lasting until 10am tomorrow, and parts of western Scotland, from 7pm tonight until 10am tomorrow.
A separate warning for snow and ice covers Northern Ireland until 10am tomorrow. Hundreds of schools were forced to shut across England and Wales today following heavy snowfall overnight.
