Sir Rod Stewart has shared two incredible throwback snaps from the 1970s with his fans on Instagram ahead of his UK tour kicking off this week.

In his first glitzy post, the Maggie May chanter is wearing a leather jacket and headband while holding a bottle of what appears to be booze.

In the second picture, he's joined by French venture capitalist and property developer Philippe Junot, Princess Caroline of Monaco and ex-wife and American model Alana Stewart.The four had been enjoying a night out at Club78 in Paris back in 1978.

Celtic-daft Rod captioned the picture: "Kicking off my UK tour this week, first stop Nottingham!
