Sir Elton Hercules John CH CBE (born Reginald Kenneth Dwight; 25 March 1947) is an English singer, songwriter, pianist, and composer. He has worked with lyricist Bernie Taupin since 1967; they have collaborated on more than 30 albums. John has sold more than 300 million records, making him one of the world's best-selling music artists. He has more than fifty Top 40 hits, as well as seven consecutive number-one albums in the United States, 58 Billboard Top 40 singles, 27 Top 10 singles, four of which peaked at number two and nine of which reached number one. His tribute single "Candle in the Wind 1997", rewritten in dedication to Diana, Princess of Wales, sold over 33 million copies worldwide and is the best-selling single in the history of the UK and US singles charts. He has also produced records and occasionally acted in films. John owned Watford F.C. from 1976 to 1987 and from 1997 to 2002, and is an honorary life president of the club.

Sir Elton John cancels tour shows as he tests positive for Covid: ‘Always a massive disappointment’

Sir Elton John has been forced to cancel tour shows this week after testing positive for Covid.The Candle In The Wind singer was due to continue his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour on Tuesday and Wednesday, but these have now been postponed.

In a statement released on Monday, the singer said: ‘Hi everyone, wanted to send a message to let you know that I have contracted Covid and so have had to reschedule my shows in Dallas. ‘If you have tickets, you’ll be contacted with the new dates really soon.

It’s always a massive disappointment to move shows and I’m so sorry to anyone who’s been inconvenienced by this but I want to keep myself and my team safe.’ Sir Elton, 74, added that he is fully vaccinated and has also received the booster jab, while his symptoms are mild so he’s expecting to perform upcoming shows in Arkansas this weekend.

He concluded his message: ‘As always, thank you for all your love and support and I can’t wait to see you all soon!’ Sir Elton’s current tour launched in 2018 and will be his last ever as the legendary singer prepares to retire from live touring.
