Sir Anthony Hopkins cast as Only Fools and Horses villain - but played Hannibal Lecter instead

Sir Anthony Hopkins nearly had a role in Only Fools and Horses, John Challis has revealed. Sir Anthony, 83, would have played one of evil Driscoll brothers but was busy filming Silence of the Lambs, according to the actor.

John, 78, who starred as dodgy car dealer Boycie, said: “He is a big fan of the show and was really interested in doing it. He would have been fantastic. “I can imagine those disarming blue eyes staring at Boycie or Del Boy.
